"Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all wrong." (Proverbs 10:12)
As I write this (July 27, 2020) I am very saddened by the violence and destruction that is going on in cities across our nation. On top of this, we are dealing with the Corona Virus.
A battle that at times, I wonder if we are winning? But I know in time the Lord will give us the victory.
It is such an intense conflict between the protesters, and law enforcement. To me it is more that just an expressing of our need for change. If we have to go beyond our voices, and strike blows of violence and destruction, we are
truly showing a deep hatred.
Our text tells us what hatred does: "Hatred stirs up dissension" like someone that stirs up the coals of a fire; the fires of prejudice and hatred are blazing fiercely today, and many are getting burned.
But on the other side of the coin, love is like a salve that helps and heals. "love covers all wrongs" Love is the answer to our mess today. The question is: Will we as a nation of diversity, step back and look at what we are doing to each other? How many more tears must be shed? How many more lives must be lost, before we will say, "enough is enough?"
It's time to love, forgive, and work together to bring about change, that will lead to unity, stability, and productivity. With God's help, we can do it? GP
