Our Heart Cries!

"And among those nations you shall find no rest, nor shall the sole of your foot have a resting place, but there the Lord will give a trembling heart, failing eyes, and anguish of soul." (Deuteronomy 28:65) 

The nation of Israel had become a disappointment to God, and to the world. They were to be a holy nation, set apart to be God's people, and God's light to the Gentiles.

But because of their idolatry and immorality, they received curses of judgment that God followed through, in punishment for their disobedience.

America has a similar purpose. As our pledge says: "One Nation Under God". If you look at the charter documents of the various colonies, you will read of the main purposes that God set in the hearts of the first settlers, of this great nation. To worship God, and to propagate His Gospel.

 But we have shaken our fist at God, and have chosen to live according to our own selfish ways. And because of that, God is doing the same things to us, here in America, as He did to Israel. How many people have trembling hearts? We walk in fear every moment, always looking over our shoulders. Our participation in the worldly pursuits has caused us not to be happy, but to have failing eyes, to what will truly bring us joy and happiness. And people have such anguish in their heart, our medical clinics, and hospitals are full, because people are in such despair, to their very soul.

 Our heart cries for Peace, Place, and Purpose; and all of this can be found in our submission to God, and His will for our lives. There is the influence of the world, and there is the urging of the Holy Spirit. But the choice is ours, to choose God's way, over that of the world. The choice to enjoy God's blessings, that are far more fulfilling and eternal. GP

The Character Of A Nation (Proverbs 14:34)

I love America. I would not what to live anywhere else. But we all know that America is not well.
The Christians principles and values, that we once held dear, in this nation, we have put aside, to pursue our own selfish interests, and activities.

The words of Proverbs 14:34 could be chiseled on the tombstone of many civilizations, and it really applies to America. "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." 

For a nation to really be at its best, and to be exalted by the God and the world, the pursuit of righteousness (instead of sin) is the key. The words of Alexis De Tocqueville, a french political thinker, and historian, rings true. "America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great." 

A son asked his mother if she remembered the vase that had been in their family for three generations? The mother said "Yes!" The son replied; "Well this generation just broke it." The laws that God has laid down in His Word, are for Americans to follow, so that America can be good, and as a result, become great in the eyes of God, and the world.

We must remember that our forefathers established, that we be one nation under God, not under ourselves. We will be blessed as a nation, when our main goal is to please God first and foremost,
and to obey Him by keeping His ten commandments, instead of throwing them out in the street.

"O Lord, you see what's in the heart! There's nothing hid from You.
So Help us live the kind of life, that's honest, good, and true! GP

How To Really Make America Great Again

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!" (Psalm 33:12) 

I want to take the message of a slogan from from one of the presidential nominees, and ask this question: "How can we really make America great again?"

We find the answer to this question in our text. If a nation placed God as Lord, they would be greatly blessed. But were not doing that are we? I didn't hear God's name mentioned during either one of the national conventions. They talked about how they are going to fix things. They talked about how they must fix things together. But there was no mention on where God fits into all of this.

We are to be one nation under God, but do we know who God is, and what He can do for our nation? Why don't we realize that in submitting to the authority, and care of God, we are doing the greatest thing for our nation. God wants to bless us, but He won't until we obey His will for our lives.
We will not fix the issues we face, until we take care of the main issue, and that is: renewing a solid relationship with God.

It's time we live up to our position as a people of God. We are a people chosen as His heritage. It's time not only to mention it, but it's time to act on it GP
