(Ephesians 5:15-16)
The words "life is too short for that" usually pertain to something that shouldn't have happened, or something that shouldn't be focused on. A negative attitude and action that is inappropriate, or causing distress, or destruction.
It is true that life is too short for the things that are a detriment, to a happy, and peaceful life. We say, and do things that hurt others, and we ourselves are hurt by the words, and actions of others. And as the hands on the clock tick by, we tend to fill our lives with these negative exchanges.
In our text the Apostle Paul tells us to be wise with our time.

We are to be serious about every moment of our lives, and have them be as productive as they can be. Most of all, in this life span, have we accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior? And are we living everyday, striving to be like Him?
We are surrounded daily by the tempting lures of Satan and the world.
How often has our selfishness got us in trouble. Like the prodigal son, we have wasted so much time on the world, instead of standing in, and enjoying the grace of God.
For all that is negative and destructive, life is too short to, allow any of it, to dominate our lives. The Lord Jesus Christ has an abundant life for us. Yes, even this life is too short for that. But hey, the good news is, we can enjoy it for eternity. GP
