I mean what is the point of being a Christian if we don't love Jesus? But there are times, in the way we act, and in the things we do, it appears that we don't love Him, like we should.
In John 21:15-19, Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves him. This really pierced Peter's heart, because on the night before Jesus died, Peter denied knowing Him three times. How hard it was to answer this question three times.
To really love Jesus, what kind of love must it be?
Let me mention three characteristics of this love.
1. It Must Be A Supreme Love (John 21:15-17) Peter was asked how much he was willing to give up, in order to live for Jesus, and to serve Him. And Jesus wants to know the same thing of us? Is there a limit to how far we would go in demonstrating our love for Him?
2. It Must Be A Sacrificial Love (John 21:18) Peter was told what type of death he would die for Jesus' sake. He would be crucified. Would we be able to love Jesus, even to the point of death?
3. It Must Be A Submitting Love (John 21:19) To love Jesus sincerely, totally, means "following Him, wherever He leads. To give Him our total lives, in order to glorify Him, in all that we say, and do.
