No doubt we can agree that life can be overwhelming at times.
So much so, that we don't know just which way to turn. And problems, can truly cause us to be under a dark cloud of despair that never seems to disappear.
So much so, that we don't know just which way to turn. And problems, can truly cause us to be under a dark cloud of despair that never seems to disappear.
I am sure that Joshua felt overwhelmed as he stepped into Moses' shoes, as leader of the nation of Israel. *"Joshua and Caleb were the two spies who brought back a good report and believed that God would help them to succeed. They were the only men from their generation permitted to go into the Promised Land after the time of wandering." God rewarded their faith and faithfulness. And now as Joshua stands at the threshold of leadership, he is encouraged by God to be strong and courageous, to not be frightened or dismayed.
These are two elements of discouragement that really take their toll on a person's heart and life. But the comfort to Joshua and to us, is found in the last part of our text."For the Lord God is with you wherever you go." Instead of dismay, we need to have determination, that we are not going to let anything steal our hope, and ruin our peace.
With the greatest power in the universe behind us, how can we lose? GP
