"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire. And the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives, as you look forward to the day of God and speed it's coming." (2 Peter 3:10-12a)
Following a presidential election, the questions come: How are things going to be now with a new president? What will our lives be like?
What kind of people are we to be?
In regards to the great judgment of God upon the earth' Peter asks the same question: "What kind of people ought you (we) to be?"
When Jesus returns on that final day, how will He find us to be?
For those who have not believed, and accepted the Lord Jesus, as Savior, and Shepherd, it will be a sudden and terrible day. But for those who did commit their lives to Him, they will begin an eternal life, of eternal blessings.
This time, through a presidential election, and the days leading up to the final judgment of God, will be a time of preparation. A time to establish and maintain a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
As citizens of this great nation, we have a responsibility to obey the laws, and stand on the statues of the constitution, this Country was founded on. Peter is saying here, that as Christians, we are to live holy, and godly lives, in accordance with the Word of God. No matter how things turn out in the future, we are to stand on the statues of God's Word.
As Americans make their decision concerning the next president of the United States; I pray that those who haven't chosen Jesus to be their Savior, and Lord of their lives, will do so.
There is no other decision that is more important than this one.
This decision, will have an eternal impact on our lives! GP
