What is required when we walk into a classroom, and sit down at a desk, and listen to a teacher share the lesson of the day. Is it not submission? When we take a driver's test, and the driver's license examiner is sitting in the front seat beside us, giving us instructions for the driver's test, are we not to submit to their authority. On and on we exercise submission in various situations.Why then is it hard for us as a people, who are to be one nation under God, to submit to His authority, wisdom, and care?
This nation started out as a submissive nation, but now it seems we are boldly shaking our fist at God. We have become such an arrogant, and self-sufficient society, that we have no regard for what God's will is, and His help for us as a nation. And what really stands out is our hatred, and our refusal to regard the needs of others as greater than that of ourselves. That's not to say that there are not exceptions.
To have a voice concerning change is a precious right. But when that voice is a violent voice, that stirs up actions of hurt and destruction to others, this is not the will of God. That is selfishness and sin, in it's purest form. If we want a right nation, a whole nation, a nation that is happy and productive, we need to submit and obey the Word of God.
We must work together to resist the schemes of the devil, and allow the Lord Jesus Christ to have His way with our lives. Can't we see that this is such a need for us today? I pray that we will. But it begins with each of us, letting the Lord Jesus, be Lord, and allowing Him to make a difference with us, as well as our nation. GP
