"And you will feel secure, because there is hope; you will look around and take your rest in security."
(Job 11:18)
How many people deal with insecurity in their lives?
I know I do. I know my family has, for many years.
What causes insecurity? Much of our insecurity comes from the childhood we had. Life's traumas can leave us feeling unsafe, cautious. Failures can drain us of confidence. Negative social interaction, can cause us to feel like, we can never live up to the expectations of others. These are just a few contributions to one's insecurity.
In our text,
Zophar, one of Job's friends, encourages him to hope for better times. He along with Eliphaz, and Bildad, felt that it was because of Job's sin, that brought about his extreme state of affairs. If Job would only repent of his sins, and plead for God's mercy, God would restore him.
We know at the beginning of the book what Job didn't know. Job didn't do anything wrong. God put him to the test, and it was a test of faith. Satan was sure, that Job would fail that test, but he didn't. Job learned, what we all should learn. That no matter what happens to us, our security lies in the hands of God.
There is no need for us to fret, cry, and fall into the depths of despair. Why? Because we are all in God's hands. I want to ask you, is that where you are today? Have you placed your life in God's hands? He has provided a Savior to set us free from our sin debt. And He has provided a Shepherd, to lead us, and care for us, all the days of our lives.
What do we have to be insecure about, when we have these two, wonderful, precious, provisions.
With God, we can, rest in our security! GP
