"Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work." (John 4:34)
Now that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, what's next? Hard to believe that many who have been Christians for many years, have not taken this question seriously.
We have taken the notion, that all that is involved, is an occasional attendance to worship services, an occasional gift of money placed in the offering plate, and when there is a fellowship meal, we partake heatedly. Is that all there is to this life our Lord Jesus has called us to?
Jesus wanted His disciples to know what was involved in Kingdom work. After talking with the Samaritan woman, and getting her excited about what He offered, He looks at the people coming out of the city of Sychar to meet with Him. He was not concerned about His physical food, as He was about the purpose for His life.
As Christians, shouldn't it be the same way with us? God will take care of us. He promised that He would (Matthew 6:25-34). Shouldn't we be about our Father's business, and reach out to people with the Gospel? People need Jesus desperately! Without Him they will perish eternally.
How can we take the purpose for our Christian life, so casually, so indifferently. It should be the most important part of our lives.
The Lord will bring us opportunities to share, as He had. Let's say with Him."My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His Work." The greatest work of the ages! GP
