From what I have read and observed in the church, the number one reason for conflicts, and pastors being fired, is because of arrogance, and the pursuit for power and authority. Where are the team players in all of this? Instead of a desire to work together for the common cause of Christ, there is the constant pursuit of power, and the desire to dominate, and be king of the hill.
We act like the disciples did, following Jesus' prediction that one of them would betray Him. "Then they began to question among themselves, which of them it was who would do this thing. But there was also a rivalry among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest." (Luke 22:23-24)
Who is the greatest among us? Who has to have their way in everything? Who is upset because someone is shining brighter than they? Any of us? There should be none of us, that feel that way. The only one who is to shine, is Jesus Christ! He is to shine through each one of us. He won't be able to, unless we humble ourselves and be like Him.
Away with the arrogance, away with the conceit. To have the unity that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit have, is to take arrogance, and put it in a can, and throw it away. Then maybe something will be accomplished for the Kingdom of God! GP
