Grumbling Or Grateful?

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

I don't consider myself a grumbler, yet I catch myself grumbling about something everyday.
There are things that I would like to see improve.
There are things that I would like to make right.

But instead of having a positive attitude about those things,
I grumble and complain, and make my attitude more sour and bitter.

In our text the Apostle Paul has a better approach.
And I ask, as I read those words, how can one who went through so much, have this approach? Without a doubt He was allowing the Holy Spirit to have His way with his life.

Paul says "Rejoice always." Now that's a challenge!
How can we rejoice every moment of our lives?
Isn't that asking a little too much?
If we try to find the good in every situation, it will help lift our spirits.
It will help us to have a better outlook on life.

And along with this, we are to "pray without ceasing."
Instead of grumbling to ourselves, and to others, the better activity is to pray about the problems we are facing. God is big enough to handle whatever we dish out to Him.

And this may be the hardest of all:"in everything give thanks"
In so doing, it takes the bitterness out of the trials of life.
In giving thanks, it places our focus on God's goodness, instead of life's injustices.
God's goodness will always override the cloud of despair that can hang over us for a long time.

Instead of grumbling, let's be grateful. Indeed a far better approach to life. GP
