"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith." (Galatians 6:9-10)
It is encouraged that we "count our blessings" and give thanks for all that God has done for us, and what He promises to do for us in the future.
What about "being a blessing?" Are their people that could benefit from your time, talent, money, words of encouragement? Indeed there is.
The Apostle Paul in our text, tells us to not grow weary in doing good.
I don't believe he is being sarcastic, when he makes this statement, but it almost seems like he is. People can get very self-centered, and focused on their own affairs, that they lose site of the needs of those around them. On the other hand, it is true that one can become overwhelmed in doing so much good, that they spread themselves out too thin.
There is that balance that must be maintained, but all in all, it is such a good feeling to be able to be of help, and especially to "the household of faith."
Can someone count you as a blessing this year? It is a very fulfilling role to have in some one's life. What a different world it would be, if everyone looked for those opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others. A different world indeed! GP
