"But he who glories, let him glory in the Lord. For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends." (2 Corinthians 10:17-18) The Apostle Paul did not want to do, what a lot of spiritual leaders do today; and boast about their accomplishments, and walk around with an arrogant attitude. It is never to be about us, but most of the time it is. The Apostle Paul was of the attitude, that if there was anything to boast about, it was of Christ Jesus, and Him working in us, and through us. We should never be like the woodpecker that was pecking at a tree, and then flew away. But right after he flew a short distance, lightning struck that tree and split it right in half. The woodpecker looked back and said to himself "Wow, look what I did!" Humility was such a strong characteristic of our Lord Jesus Christ. From His birth to His resurrection, He demonstrated humility. He treated everyone as important. Even the religious leaders (who gave Him a rough time) He wept over, as He wept over Jerusalem. (Luke 19:41)
If you are a spiritual leader, strive to have a correct perspective of yourself. No one is more important than anyone else. We all stand in the grace of God. It is a privilege to live and serve the Lord. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to minister to others, and to help them to grow, and progress, in their walk with the Lord. Let's look forward to what the Lord can accomplish through us! GP
