"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance." (Psalm 33:12)
The Pledge of Allegiance of the United States is an expression of loyalty to the federal flag and the republic of the United States of America, originally composed by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and formally adopted by Congress as the pledge in 1942. The Pledge has been modified four times since its composition, with the most recent change adding the words "under God" in 1954.(1)*
Those words in our American pledge are under attack today. I read that there were three different national polls that showed that 90 percent of the American public wanted the words kept in.
But as I look at our nation, I agree that we should say the words, but more so, we should live those words.
Charter documents reveal the intent of the founders of this great country. In essence to establish a free nation, and propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My question is, are we just mouthing the words, or do we really live as if we want America to be "under God"
Have WE placed ourselves under God's authority, wisdom, and care?
Do we live our lives according to what His Word tells us? How can we expect America to take these words seriously, if we don't? How can we expect America to see that this is the better way, if we don't follow it?
How many times have I heard these words: "If your going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk." If the pledge says that the American walk, is to be one, that is under the umbrella Of God's sovereign will, and power, than we had better not just talk the talk, we had better walk the walk. God will hold us to it!
