Wednesday, January 6, 2021 will be a day that will not be forgotten.
We as American citizens were horrified when we watched the capital building in Washington D.C, being broken into by protesters.
Five people were killed that day, because of this riotous act.
I read several responses by people on social media, expressing their heartbreak over this destructive act.
As Americans, is this the way we are to act? And a question that came out of these
social forums: "What will we say to our children? "How will we explain this to them?"
From our text (Proverbs 14:34) comes the right answer.
It is "righteousness" that exalts a nation. It is doing what is right according to the Word of God, that will have us reaping the blessings of God, and accomplishing what is fruitful and productive in this land.
But we as a nation do not want to do this. We would rather follow our own selfish ideas and pursuits, than to be obedient to the Word and will of God.
We read the word "disgrace" in our text that describes the sin, we as a nation (that is to be under God) is involved in. I don't want this post to be a severe scolding, but I want to encourage us as fellow Americans, that we can be better than this. We need to turn our hearts toward God, repent of our sins, and commit to being the people that He wants us to be.
We are not to be a divided people, but a united people, focusing on pursuing the will of God.
God is the one who gave us this nation, and has blessed us abundantly. He wants to bless us, and exalt us; but we need to be a nation that submits to His will; who works together to glorify Him, in all that we say, and do. With God's help, we can do it!! GP
