(2 Corinthians 5:17)
A song that hit the charts in 1964, was a song entitled: "I'm Into Something Good" recorded by Herman's Hermits. Of course this song talks about a relationship between a boy and girl. But when I think about the best relationship one can get into, it is a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The apostle Paul in writing to the Christians at Corinth, (and us) he says that when we place ourselves in this relationship, two things happen:
1) "old things have passed away." What things have passed away? Our old selfish, sinful nature is gone. We no longer desire to live for ourselves, and desire to be involved in sinful activities. 2) "behold, all things have become new." Following our repentance, and baptism into Jesus Christ, we are cleansed of our sins (Acts 2:38) and we can now "walk in newness of life" (Romans 6:4) We can experience a new life "in Christ."
We can agree with the song, indeed we are "Into Something Good." What a difference our lives would be, if we would enter this precious relationship. We would find peace, contentment, and hope for today, and forever.
How much better our relationships would be, if we were abiding in Christ, and treating people the way He instructs us to, in the Gospels. Many people are into many things, and many things are not
good things. But when you are "into Jesus Christ", you are into the best thing there is. There is nothing better, for this life, and for eternity!
Will you give your life to Jesus today? GP
