"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, But let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:25)
You want to go to church, but you're afraid to get the corona virus.
Yet we go to places like Walmart, where there are way more people, and rub shoulders with them. Do they do the social distancing there? You say, well going to Walmart is an essential activity. We need food, and we need the necessities of life. You may not agree with me, and that's alright. We can agree to disagree. But I feel that we need to take seriously the encouragement of our text, in the midst of the threat, of the Corona virus. There will be some who will use the "staying at home" as an excuse to not assemble together.
As Christians we need to meet together. We meet together to worship, and to receive the teaching of God's Word. And in our fellowship together, we encourage one another. We all have spiritual struggles. There is that tendency to weaken in our faith, and in our commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
When temptations come our way, we need the encouragement of fellow believers to stay strong. And even when we are not assembled together, we can take advantage of our electronic tools of communication, and the sending of cards and letters, to stay in constant connection with one another.
Yes, we need to follow the guidelines for safety as we assemble together. But I believe that God will look out for us, as we assemble together, just as He does when we go to Walmart, and other places of business.
Like I said, you may disagree, and that's alright! Let's strive in the opportunities we have to "encourage one another, and all the more more as we see the Day approaching." GP
