"Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love."
(Revelation 2:4)
Have you ever had someone who was close to you, decide they didn't want anything to do with you anymore? Or this someone got so busy with life, that they did not have time for you anymore?
Both are damaging decisions.
It takes work to have good, healthy relationships. Even when there are disagreements, both parties should work hard at maintaining love and unity.
In our text, Jesus commends the church at Ephesus, for some things (2:2-3) But the main thing He has a problem with, is that they had left their first love."(v.4) They were not putting the Lord Jesus Christ first in their lives.
In the last two years, I have emphasized this in my witnessing, and in my preaching. The most important person in our lives should be the Lord Jesus Christ. It is in that personal relationship with Him that brings such wonderful blessings. We could never have a better friend than Him.
He is Savior, He is Shepherd, He is the rock that you and I can stand on, when life comes crashing down around us.
When Jesus is first, it affects all that are, and all that we do. The more we connect with Jesus, the more confidence we are going to have.
A damaging decision is to leave The Lord Jesus Christ out of our lives.
If we love Him, like He loves us, what a difference it will make in our lives! GP
