"And the eye cannot say to the hand,
"I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet,"I have no need of you." (1 Corinthians 12:21)
If you get something in your eye, what part of the body responds immediately? The hand is right there to the rescue. It is an immediate response. I have seen it so many times in church fellowship, that some members are excluded, and made to feel like they are not important. If you are not of a certain social status, you are made to feel like you don't measure up, and are not worth very much. At times people can, and do, make you feel very small. To see the big picture as God does, we need to look at the whole body, and the many parts, each one performing their abilities. The support of each one in the body, helps the body to be healthy and productive. That person who you have not talked to much in your time of fellowship and service, has something to give to you, to contribute to your spiritual health and well being, and you have something for them. I like what Luke said about the members of the early church: "Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common" (Acts 2:44)
It was not just their possessions they shared, but they shared themselves. And what a difference it made! GP
