"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abound in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
(1 Corinthians 15:58)
As Christians inconsistency is a typical characteristic that defines us. There are not very many Christians who will step up to the plate, and stay there for the Lord. You ask, "How can you be so critical, or negative?"
My answer is sadly, "I am being realistic. In many churches, leadership is non-existent. No one wants to take the responsibility, especially when you come under severe criticism. Church attendance is down, all over our nation. We would rather blend into society, than stand out, and be a strong witness for the Lord.
Look at the movies we see, the music we listen to, the television programs we watch, and what about the Internet? Are we willing to do as the Apostle Paul said in Colossians 3:1-2 "If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not the things on earth."
Instead of the desire to be steadfast, immovable in our commitment and labor for the Lord, we are apathetic, indifferent, and preoccupied with our own selfish interests. "Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem." (Luke 9:51)
Oh, that we would be like Jesus. No hesitancy, no apathy, no indifference, Only a steadfast desire to obey the Father, and to be eternally blessed! GP
