Why should we study the book of Exodus?
The book of Exodus is the record of God rescuing and delivering His people from Egyptian bondage. It is a parallel of how God rescued man-kind from the bondage of sin. And we can make comparisons to how God delivers us from the various sinful habits and trials that enslave us in our lives.

The four slaveholders are sin, guilt, self or pride, and worry. There are others, but these five truly have a hold of people today. You may be one of them.

It was a 400 year stay in the land of Egypt. After Joseph invited his family to stay in the area of Goshen, over a period of time, Israel grew into a numerous people. Because of fear that one day Israel would be a dominant threat, the Egyption leaders decided to enslave the people and have them be severely oppressed. But God heard their cries in (3:7) and brought forth a plan to bring them out of their captivity.

The word "Exodus" means "the road out." Coming from the Greek language; The pre-fix "Ex" (meaning "out of") and "hordos" (meaning "road" or "way")

In the blog-posts of our study of Exodus, we will not spend a lot of time on Biblical detail, as we will on Biblical application. To answer the question in this study: What does the book of Exodus say to us today?

Two Thought Questions:
1. Like the nation of Israel, how can we become enslaved to our practice of sin, and worldly ways?
2. What must we do to allow God to deliver us, and bring us under the umbrella of His Wisdom, authority, and care?

Key Verses for the study of Exodus: (Exodus 3:7.10)
"And the Lord said: I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows." (v.7) "Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people , the children of Israel, out of Egypt." (v.10)
