What Are We Thankful For In 2021?
"In everything give thanks;for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
(1 Thessalonians 5:18)
The Pandemic of 2020 has affected every individual in this country one way or another. We lost a lot of loved ones, by the Covid -19 Virus. Many businesses have struggled, and even closed their doors. The vaccines have helped, and we have been able to open up more, but the variants of this virus are still causing more death and destruction.
Our nation is very divided right now, from government, all the way down to the family unit. We more than disagree with each other, we are voicing hatred at an extreme level.
In the midst of all of this, how does one give thanks? The apostle Paul tells us (in our text) "In everything give thanks." How can we do this? We have so many hurting people. How can you be thankful when you are hurting?
It's like taking medicine we don't want to take. But in taking it, we trust that it will help correct the negative condition we have developed. Even though giving thanks is not what we feel like doing, the apostle Paul tells us, that it is "the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." It is the will of God that we give thanks! It is His will that we focus on the blessings that we have.
It is an encouragement to us, to express thanks for the positive things taking place in our lives. Even though we deal everyday with the evil that takes precedence in our world; we should give thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who has given us the greatest hope one could ever have.
When we hear our words of praise to God, it will encourage us greatly. It will place our focus (not on the problems) but on the problem solver. One of the greatest blessings to think about, and to express, is the blessing of knowing, that whether we live or die, in this life, we can place ourselves completely in God's hands. Eternity is ours in Christ Jesus, if we place our lives completely in His hands.

Snakes & Sheep (Author Unknown)
“A rattlesnake bit one of my sheep in the face about a week ago. Deadliest snake that lives around here. The sheep’s face swelled up and hurt her terribly. But the old rattlesnake didn't know the kind of blood that flows through the sheep. Anti-venom is most often made from sheep's blood. The sheep swelled for about 2 days but the blood of the lamb destroyed the venom of the serpent. I was worried but the sheep didn't care. She kept on eating, kept on drinking and kept on climbing because she knew she was alright.Often the serpents of this life will reach out and bite us. They inject their poison into us but they cannot overcome the Blood of the Lamb of God that washes away the sin of the world and the sting of death. Don't worry about the serpent or his bite, just make sure that the Lamb's Blood is flowing through your veins.”

THIS IS A PRAYER
This is a prayer for those who are not well.
Who's struggle is constant and severe.
For those who's pain is from morning to night
A suffering that is so hard to bear.
This is a prayer for healing and strength
That only God can provide.
That His hand be upon us faithfully,
And we feel His peace inside.
Why should we pray you ask?
Why should we petition this welfare today?
There's no other place where such grace resides.
No better help that can come our way.
This is a prayer for those in despair.
Because sickness can take such a toll.
We pray to God in our weakness,
We pray to God to make us whole..
