What would it be like to never change?
To always be the same? When we look at old photograph albums, and see past photographs of ourselves, without a doubt we see change. We see the progression of the aging process.
I am sure that when the Jews came back to their homeland, God wanted to see a change of heart, but instead, He saw nothing but rebellion.
The prophet Malachi speaks of the Lord coming in judgment, as one who is "like a refiner of fire, and like a launderer's soap"(3;2)
He will come to judge, and to purify.
The Lord never changes. "He is the same yesterday, and today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8) and He intends for His people to establish and maintain a constant love and obedience towards Him.
As we enter into a new year, most likely there will be changes we will want to make in our lives. There will be resolutions we will promise to keep throughout the year.
The most important resolution should be to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might." (Deuteronomy 6:5) If we start there, than all the other changes that need to be made, will come more easily. We will have a very blessed year, even in the midst of the trials.
Change is never easy, but the Lord, who never changes, will help us to be and to do those things that will glorify Him, and be a blessing to us! Have a blessed new Year! GP
