John addresses his third letter to a beloved friend named Gaius. Gaius was a common name back during this time.
The Apostle Paul had a friend named Gaius, of Corinth, who had been Paul's host. (Romans 16:23) I believe that what John wishes for Gaius, is a prayer we have for each other.
Today, we are not sure what our health care in America will be like. With the rising cost for health care, and the changes our government is making, it is anyone;s guess just what it will turn out to be.
God has a spiritual health care plan for us as well. God wants us to be blessed. But there are trials that He allows to help us to grow in our faith, hope, and love. God wants us to be spiritually prepared to meet His Son Jesus when He returns. This journey that we are on, in this life, is not a journey to amass material wealth, and to obtain all the perks this world has to offer. This journey is a walk of preparation for the next.
Gaius, may have had some difficulties as we all do. He may have had health problems. The wish for Gaius (and for us) is that God will care for us physically, as well as spiritually. God's Word is God's spiritual health care bill. A promise to meet all of our needs according to His will for our lives. Unlike the national health care bill that is being debated today, God's health care bill, cannot be changed, and will take care of us for eternity! GP
