Spiritual Alignment

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes, Fear the Lord and depart from evil." (Proverbs 3:5-7)

When you go to a Chiropractor, the emphasis is to concentrate on bodily alignment. If the body is aligned, it will help the body to correct other problems on it's own. It is the same way with our spiritual health. We can think of the problems that we deal with in our spiritual life, and we think of various ways to correct them. But when we try to accomplish this on our own, we find ourselves very lacking, in our ability to fix what is wrong.

I like what Solomon tells us in our text. He tells us six things we can do, to allow the Lord to align ourselves to His word and will for our lives.

1) "Trust....in the Lord with all of your heart." Our abilities are limited, where the Lord is able to do so much more to correct the problems in our spiritual life.

2) "Lean....not on your own understanding." Since the Lord created us, and saved us from our sins; He knows more than us, what must be done, and He will accomplish it, if we align ourselves to His presence and work in our lives.

3) "Acknowledge Him....in all your ways."  Acknowledge in all that we say and do that the Lord is at work in our lives. It's not totally us, but it is the Lord that is making a difference in making things right in our lives.

4) "Be not wise....in your own eyes." We are to align ourselves to the Word of God, instead of relying on our own ideas, and the ideas of others.

 5) "Fear....the Lord." We are to have a healthy respect for the Lord. Instead of having an indifferent, rebellious attitude, we are to respect the Lord's will and way for us.

6) "Depart....from evil." Our God is a holy, righteous God, and we are to be holy (set apart) as God is. We are not to place our thoughts and actions on evil, worldly things. How can God direct our paths, when we concentrate on the destructive paths that will ruin us.

When we align our lives to God's will by doing these six things, this is the result of this alignment: "God will direct your paths". When God directs our paths, how can we go wrong? How can we make wrong decisions, that will harm our lives? God will always lead us in the right ways. He is like a divine chiropractor, He will keep our lives aligned.
But we have to be faithful to submit to His authority, work, and care. GP
