The Christian And Social Media

"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." (Ephesians 4:29) Social media has truly had a great affect on our lives. We are able to keep in touch with family and friends more than ever before. But with all the means of communication, it can be used for good, or it can be used for evil. On social media, I have seen and read some very worldly information. I have read comments that were filled with foul language.   I have read the words of family members communicated to each other, that was mean-spirited and down-right hateful.
I have read of young people who have committed suicide because they were severely bullied on social media. For us as Christians, we must set the example in what the Apostle Paul admonished us to do in our text. The words that we use, are not to be corrupt, or severely critical, but are to be for building up, whatever the situation may be. As we walk in the grace of God, may our words be saturated in this grace. May the love of God be expressed in every word we use. May it be the desire of every Christian to lift someone up on social media. To build them up, instead of tearing them down.
