What is very disturbing now is, not only do we hear of people being shot and killed, we can see videos of it on television.*I watched a video just this morning of a confrontation between police and a man who had his hand in the air, and then you hear the shots, and down he goes to his death. I realize that this video may be of use in the investigation, but why does it have to be available for the public to view? This is not a good answer, but with our modern technology, that is where we are at today. We have more information being shown to us today, than any time in history. We see and hear of events happening sooner than ever before. It doesn't matter what form of technology is used to inform the public; what does matter is how it affects the public. What messages are we sending, especially to our young people? But it comes back to where we are as a nation, in regard to our relationship with God. God is not pleased when all we want to do is shock people. With many of us, the violence we are seeing on television (in the news, as well as commercial programing) stays with us, and forms a memory that affects our emotions, our attitudes, and our actions. But the choice is ours to view the things that are pleasing to God. And the things that come across our path that are negative and disturbing, we must place in God's hands, and pray that He will help us to find peace in the midst of such horrific scenes.
