Dragging Disappointment

"Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God." (Psalm 42:11)

As you enter 2022, are you dragging disappointment with you? You know that the new year offers new opportunities, but yet you are dragging the disappointments of the past year with you.

The Psalmist asks a good question for us:
"Why are we cast down? Why are we in turmoil deep in our souls?"

Yes, there are disappointments in life. There are those times, when we fail to accomplish what we set out to do. There are times when people, who we thought we could count on, let us down. There are times when we let people down.

This past year, may have yielded much disappointment for you. But here is the key to rising above the sorrow, and despair of disappointment.
The Psalmist says: "Hope in God". You will not be able to go back and fix things, but with God's guidance from His Word, and His presence in your life, He will help you to get back on your feet, and accomplish His will for your life. He will help you to leave behind the disappointment, and set your heart on a hopeful path.

The Apostle Paul said: "Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead." (Philippians 3:13) All that pertained to Jesus Christ, and His will for Paul's life, is what he was pressing forward to have.

In staying in fellowship with our Lord, and striving to accomplish His will for our lives, we will be able to cut the ties with disappointment, and walk in the hope of God, now and forever. GP

When Life Lets You Down

"And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (Romans 5:5)

Are you a hopeful person? Do you always feel that there will be better times ahead, or are you overwhelmed with disappointment?

Just about the time I get feeling good about life, and my future, a trial comes along that just knocks that good feeling right out of my heart. Been there?

If we are counting on the circumstances of life to guarantee a constant hope, think again. There is no reality of ideal circumstances all the time. At least not in this life.

The hope that I try to hold on to is found in two things in our text.
First of all my hope is found in God's love. The world can come crashing down around me, and yet I am supported by the fact that God loves me. He sent His Son to die for my sins, and He will be with me in all of my life's pursuits and failures.

And the second thing that sustains my hope, is the Holy Spirit, who guides me (If I will let Him) in the way the Lord wants me to go.
I trust in His leading, and in His enabling me, to do what I do for Him.

No doubt life is, and will always be, disappointing. But God is faithful, and what He promises is true. In this we can be hopeful! GP

When Things Don't Go My Way!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5

There are times that my thinking is not right, and I make choices and decisions that are based on my thinking, instead of the Word of God. Have you ever done that?

Because of selfishness, we choose to do those things that we feel is right for us; but the question is, are they things that line up with the will of God?
There have been many times that I have been frustrated because things have not gone my way.I developed a plan, and worked the plan, only to see it, after a period of time, fall apart, and vanish away. And I was left disappointed and disillusioned. Have you been there?

Solomon writes, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." In other words, don't trust in yourself, but trust totally in the Lord. Look to His Word for insight on every situation. Take time to pray concerning every situation. Take everything to the master architect of life, before we do anything.

"In all your ways, acknowledge Him." Allow Him to be apart of all things, and let people know that He is apart of all things.

Make it your testimony. And the promise is that "He will make your paths straight" The Lord will open the doors of His plan for your life, He will direct you in the straight paths of endeavor. No longer will you be disappointed and disillusioned because things did not work out the way that you thought they should. Instead they will work out the way the Lord intended.

Lean on the Lord In all you ways. Make His plan your main stay.
He will give you light and direction And joy and Peace will be your possession. GP
