A Transition Of Power

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy." (1 Peter 2:9-10)

This Wednesday, January 20, 2021, is the presidential inauguration day. A day when there will be a transition of power. A change of executive position and power.

The apostle Paul agrees with Peter, when he wrote to the Christians at Colossae, that "He (God) has delivered us from the power of darkness, and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love."
(Colossians 1:13)

The world is under the domination of Satan. It is influenced, and manipulated by him. He is an enemy of God, and He tries to grip people, and keep them from having a relationship with Him. The question comes: Where are you in regards to your position with either Satan, or Jesus Christ.

There is no middle ground. Jesus said: “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." (Matthew 6:24)

Today as we look at our society, and at the church. A choice must be made, in regards to who we will submit to, to find peace, and fulfillment in our lives. Satan and the world promise it, but cannot deliver. All we have to do, is look at the mess our nation is in right now. Such division, and destruction. Is this what we want? I would say NOT!

Do you think that Satan wants us to have unity, peace. He loves it when he sees us fight, and destroy one another. That's what his kingdom is all about. It's time for us to submit to a transition of power.

So many souls are in need of a Savior! Guess what, we have one:
We must turn to the Lord Jesus Christ, and place ourselves under His power, and be apart of His Kingdom. Only then will we find the blessings that God wants us all to have! Not only as individuals, but as communities, that make up this wonderful nation.

Let us place ourselves under the reign of Jesus Christ, and let Him care for us, and bless us, as only He knows how to do!! GP

Thy Will Be Done

I delight to do Your will, O my God.
—Psalm 40:8

"For more than five decades, Frank Sinatra was one of America’s most popular entertainers. Perhaps he is best known for the song “My Way.” Apparently it has struck a responsive chord among his fans. What chord is that? Self-will. It’s the dominant desire of human beings to do things their own way. And that’s exactly how the song ends: “I did it my way.”
(Our Daily Bread - 3/4/1997)

I have been in so much trouble when I did things my way, instead of God's way. When I have given in to my passions and desires, I have truly brought damage to my body and my heart. I truly damaged my relationship with God. And after the thrill was gone, what I thought would make me happy for a long time, quickly left me empty and disappointed.

"There is a way that seems right to man, but it's end is the way of death." (Proverbs 14:12)

The self-willed way, is not always a way that has our best interest at heart. And just like a child that wants candy all the time, if we constantly lived a candy like life-style, it would eventually lead to an unhealthy life style. One that in time would destroy us.

We should be thankful that our heavenly Father knows what is best for us. There may be things that are apart of His will, that will be unpleasant, but in the long term, beneficial.

The choice is ours. We can choose what we think is good for us, or we can choose what God knows is good for us! GP

Sincere Submission

"And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took Mary as his wife, but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus." (Matthew 1:24-25)

What is your response to God's will for your life? When you come to realize what God would have you to do, in regards to a certain situation, do you sincerely submit to His will? Or do you look at it as just an option, that you could pursue, if you wanted to.

When Mary was found with child, and Joseph realized that he was not the father, his self-focused option was to put Mary away secretly. Instead of making her condition known to the public, and to the judges at the gate (which would have resulted in Mary being stoned to death-Deuteronomy 22:23-24) he decided to divorce her quietly.

But when an angel came to Joseph in a dream, and told him about God's plan for Mary and the Christ Child, (v.20) he didn't look at this as an option, he looked at it as a command from God. And in response, he obeyed, and took Mary to be his wife.

To sincerely submit to the will of God, is to exercise a strong and determined faith and obedience. To say to ourselves: God knows what is best, we don't. His will is always better than ours.

We may not like the direction that God is taking us, or the task that He has called us to do. But when we look back and see how God is using us, and how He is working His plan in our situations, we will be glad that we submitted to His plan and His will.

God is faithful, but the question is: are we? GP
