*There is controversy over a prayer board that was placed inside an eighth grade Mississippi classroom at Oak Grove Middle School in Hattesburg, Mississippi. Lamar County School District officials will soon issue a decision regarding the prayer request display, which was on a classroom's closet door at Oak Grove Middle School. They may have taken prayer out of school, but can they take prayer out of the students? I remember when I attended a one room school, in our community; before we began our school activities, we said our
"Pledge Of Allegiance" to the American Flag, and right before lunch, we had a prayer of thanks, for our food. These two exercises reinforced the values that I hold dear today. But today, we are far from the values of our forefathers, who established this great nation. Before we did not look at prayer, and the Bible, as a threat to our rights as American citizens. We embraced them, because we knew that they would help us have, a stability in our relationships, in this nation. Our unity would help us to stand together against anything that threatened the welfare of this wonderful country. But I believe that the absence of prayer, and the study of God's Word, will gradually be to our demise. I don't believe that these two activities should be forced, but desired. When they are, powerful & positive things, will happen! GP
