Celebratory Noise

After the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave." (1 Kings 19:12-13)

There are those who think that God should speak to them in dynamic, sensational ways. But it wasn't that way with Elijah.
It wasn't in the wind, or the earthquake, or the fire, but it was in a still small voice (a whisper) that Elijah heard God's voice.

My question this Christmas is: Are we hearing God's message to us through all of what I call: "Celebratory noise" The noise of commercialism, materialism, a preoccupation with presents and parties. (You know what I am talking about.)

Are we not only hearing, but embracing the message of Luke 2:11?
"For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior which is Christ the Lord."

The best way to celebrate Christmas is to make Christ the center of our thoughts, and activities.

If God had not sent the gift of His Son, where would we be in regards to our relationship with God, and our eternal future? We need to celebrate the fact that because of Jesus Christ, we have the best future, we could ever have. And on top of that, the best help for our daily needs. We have a Savior and a Shepherd, for all eternity.

This is not "Celebratory noise", But a "Celebratory Hope!"

Which songs will we choose to sing? The songs of the world, or the SONG of the angels? GP
