A Past Pursuit VS A Future Gain

"...but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind.." (Philippians 3:13b) I have heard these words before: "The past is a place you can visit from time to time, but you don't want to live there." When the Apostle Paul became a Christian, he realized that what he had gained was more valuable than what he had left behind. He had gained a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ over, a strong heritage, an education, a position and career. But none of these things could satisfy, or bring fulfillment in His life, like his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. "Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ." (Philippians 3:8)
As we look in the rear view mirror of our lives, can we say that our lives were fulfilled by the many pursuits of the world? Yes, there were good times, and bad times, as there will be in the future, but was there a huge piece of the puzzle missing? To Paul it was Jesus Christ. He tried to be righteous, by the keeping of the law, but that was a path to disappointment. As Christians, when we give the Lord Jesus Christ a chance in our lives, we will find a right relationship with the Lord, that will bring peace. We will find in this relationship, a purpose that outweighs anything the world has to offer.
We need to press on (Philippians 3:14) and find that fulfillment, that only a relationship with Jesus Christ can provide! GP
