As Christians, I believe we are surprised to see the world in the church. When it comes down to disagreeing about the purpose of the church, and competing for power and place, and severe criticism of one another, in the church; we see the attitudes of the world creeping in. We have this idea that within the Christian fellowship, Satan by no means will enter, and make his presence known. Jesus told Peter that Satan had asked Him, if he could "sift him like wheat." (Luke 22:31) If Satan was there among Jesus and the disciples, he is among us in our Christian fellowship today, wanting to sift us like wheat. The church (which is the people) is a battle ground for Satan to get control, and to destroy. If you think this battle is only out there is the world, you are mistaken. We are never to run away from the battle, but like David, we are to pick up our stones of truth (from God's Word), and face our giants head on. We will not be popular, we may be standing by ourselves. But we will be standing with Jesus, and fighting this battle with Him, yes, even in church!
