"And they said to one another, "Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road and while He opened the Scriptures to us?" (Luke 24:32) I remember a story I heard of a little boy who was being examined by a doctor, and the doctor let the little boy listen to his heart through the stethoscope, and when he heard the beating of his heart, the little boy responded, "Is that Jesus knocking?" The disciples that walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus, were very stirred in their hearts, when He was present with them. This asks the question: What is our relationship with the Lord Jesus right now? Do we feel Him present in our hearts, as we read His Word, and fellowship with Him in prayer? Do we have a strong desire to live for Him, and serve Him, with all of our being? If a piece of charcoal is taken away from the fire, it turns gray and cold. Is that how our hearts are towards Jesus right now? It's not too late to rekindle the fire for Jesus in our hearts. It's not too late to renew a wonderful fellowship and partnership with Him, as we travel down life's path. It only takes a match to get things started. Why not start today? GP
