WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THANKSGIVING

How do you react to adversity? When everything in going good,
and going our way, it’s easy to praise the Lord.
But when our plans are disrupted, and we have a mountain of
bills to face, or our health fails, thankfulness seems to disappear.
It’s easy to let these things really cloud our thinking, and cause us
to slip into discouragement, and degrees of deep depression.
The Apostle Paul writes to the church at Thessalonica and
encourages them (and us) to look at the benefits of thanksgiving.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 we find two instructions on thanksgiving,
that will keep us in the positive, and truly bless our lives.
1. THE EXTENT OF THANKSGIVING
(1 Thessalonians 5:18a)
“In everything give thanks”
2. THE EXPECTATION OF THANKSGIVING
(1 Thessalonians 5:18b)
“For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
“COUNT”
Count your blessings instead of your crosses.
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes.
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears.
Count your courage instead of your fears
Count your full years instead of your lean.
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth.
Count on God instead of yourself ___Selected.
