"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17) It would help to know what the church's main objective is with Bible Study. What does God want us to accomplish in our study of the Bible together? According to the Apostle Paul's words to Timothy, the study of the Bible was two-fold. First to understand what God's expectation of what a person's life is to be. God's Word is profitable in helping us to be taught the will of God, to be admonished for sinful attitudes and actions, to be corrected for wrong actions performed. God's Word will help us to walk in righteousness before Him. And secondly that we be trained to do good works. God's Word will help us, as we get involved in Christian service. So many Christians do not take advantage of the privilege and opportunity to study the Bible with fellow Christians. They don't feel that it is all that important. It is vital that we feed on the spiritual food that God designed for our souls, and for success in the Christian walk. It is even more profitable when we can study together, and encourage each other with the Word of God. The Bible is for our well being, let's take advantage of it! GP
