"But speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ--from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint working by which every part does its share, causes growth by the body for the edifying of itself in love."(Ephesians 4:15-16) It takes more than one organ, and more than one part to help the physical body function efficiently. It's the same way with the body of Christ. Each member has a gift, and an ability to use, to help the body of Christ operate effectively for the the Kingdom of God. If just a few are doing all the work, and the majority are just being spectators, that body of believers will not gain much ground for our Lord Jesus Christ. And it's not just those in the limelight that are important, but those who are behind the scenes, who are just as important. It cannot be like it is at a sporting event. With a team of 9 players, or 22 players, out on the field, in good condition, playing the game, and 80,000 spectators who are are out of shape, just watching. The church is to be made up of players, not spectators, working on being in good condition to serve the Lord.
