Are You Excited About Being A Christian?

"Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and your patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, knowing beloved brethren your election by God." (1 Thessalonians 1:3-4) Here the Apostle Paul writes to a young church that is on fire for Jesus Christ. Paul had only spent about a month with them, but the Lord did a mighty work, and this church demonstrated in a short time, the marks of a mature church. They had demonstrated their faith in the Lord for salvation, and in standing up to the opposition concerning worshipping idols, as their community was doing. They abounded in their labor of love, and they ministered to the needs around them. And they held on to the hope of Jesus' return. Paul reminded them that they had been chosen of God, when they had chosen to be "In Christ" This was their election. Because they trusted in Christ, their election was sure. Their future blessings were sure. What does it take to be excited about being a Christian? It is the joy of knowing that we stand in the grace of God. To know that we have placed ourselves in the best place we could be, and that is "In Jesus Christ" And because we are "in Christ" We have the greatest future there is. We will have eternal life with none of the troubles we experience here in this life. And the opportunities to be involved in Kingdom work is so exciting.
To be used by the Lord, to make a difference in the lives of people, is the most fulfilling work there is. Yes, it is exciting to be a Christian. To have a future that is bright and sure. To have a work that is challenging and fulfilling. I ask you, is there anything better?
